About 20 years ago, I was invited to the radio station “Tendem Quisqueya” to participate as a producer. It is an experience I will never forget. I was the producer, the host, and the director of my program. Prior to this experience, I had no knowledge in the broadcasting field that was a big deal for a shy man behind a microphone.
If the director of the radio was looking for perfection I won’t be there. I remember the first day I could not read nor speak clearly. One of the directors gave me an article, newspaper, or a letter to read I don’t remember quiet well what was it but that was a big deal for me not because I could not read, but because I am a shy person. I still have no idea why I am so shy.
My first month I took part in what they call “trail program” which in French is “Emission d’Ecces” I remember one day while I was doing a program, one of the producers said to me: “when are you going to start your program?” One of the qualities I believe a shy person has they don’t like to make mistake. So, I took my time before I put my voice on the air. Of course, I make mistakes and I learned from my mistakes. I believe I am a good learner and I have confidence in myself if I put my mind in something I will do it. My program started getting better and better every day. When I started the program I was by myself but as time progressed more people joined the program as staff producers.
I believe we all have the potentiality to become whatever we want as long they give us a chance in life. I never imagine I can be a radio producer in my life until I got that chance. I thank God first than Ernst Lafond my referral and the director of the radio station Tandem Quisqueya for this opportunity.
